MAGUS - a small game about battling mages

Every once in a while, mages that aspire to be the head of the overseeing council, have to prove themselves worthy by partecipating in a special contest called:

“The MAGUS”

In here up to 4 partecipants will be stripped of their tools and power, and be forced to rely on their wits and what they can gather from the arena alone to defeat the other mages.

The last one standing will be the one to obtain the title of MAGUS and the honor of leading the council efforts for years to come.

A simple (i think) game born from a random idea after i ate probably too much pizza. 

This is a survival game where 2 and up to 4 players have to defeat the other ones, and the last one standing wins. 
each player controls a pawn; they eats others and move like the ones in chess, but here's the catch:

If you give up your turn while on one of the yellow tiles, you gain the ability to cast one of 5 game-altering spells that can aid you in defeating the others. 

Battle your friends in a supremacy battle and assemble your arsenal of preferred spells to accomplish the task.

fair warning, i haven't playtested this game, nor i know if it's actually fun to play. everything written here is based upon my reasoning, intuitions and predictions, but might be totally wrong/unfair.
